About Us

The Summersville Seventh-day Adventist Church is a community of believers in Jesus Christ who strive to follow Him whole heartedly.

Every Sabbath we come together to worship our LORD who lovingly created us in His image, to fellowship with each other, and to rest in His presence.

We aim to love each other as God has loved us (John 3) and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we desire to serve our community and help meet its needs.

We believe that the Bible is the holy word of God, and thereby seek to follow its precepts collectively as a church family and as individuals.

Our faith is built on:

- Relationship: “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (John 17:3)
- Worship: “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.” (Psalm 95:6-7)
- Bible Study: “But Jesus answered and said, ‘It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” (Matthew 4:4)
- Prayer: “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18)
- Obedience: “Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.” (1 John 3:24)
- Fellowship: “That they may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent me.” (John 17:21)
- Service: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

We hope you can join us in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia.

May God richly bless you, and may you always remember He loves you!

Visitor's Guide

Welcome to our church! Everyone has questions when they visit a new place. We will try to answer some of the most common questions. First time visit? Here's what to expect.

We observe the Sabbath and meet on Saturday mornings at 10:00 for Sabbath School and 11:15 for the Worship Service. Please find a spot in the parking lot out front and enter through one of the side doors. You will be warmly greeted as you enter. Come as you are...some people like to dress up and some people dress casually. Either way you will be welcomed. Someone will assist you in finding the sanctuary or classroom that is right for you and your family. We have Sabbath School classes for all ages - from infants to adults.

Our worship service includes a special children's story to minister to our young people. Our sermons are Bible based, practical, and relevant. We enjoy potluck fellowship on the 1st and 3rd Sabbath of every month and would be honored if you stay and join us for a meal so we can get better acquainted. Our potlucks are vegetarian and feature a wide range of tasty foods. We are blessed with many fantastic cooks. If you have any questions or would like to speak to someone, please call the church at 304-872-6958 or email summersvillesdainfo@gmail.com

28 Fundamental Beliefs

Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the protestant conviction Sola Scriptura—the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians.

Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.
